TRANSPORTATION AND ENVIRONMENT

Magnesia is located in Tekinköy village of Ortaklar resort in Germencik city of Aydin, on the road between Ortaklar and Söke. Magnesia can be reached via either Izmir-Aydın road or through Selçuk; from Aydın, through Germencik, or through Söke. It is exactly 100 km from İzmir, 4 km from Ortaklar and 16 km from Söke. For those who prefer the highway, Magnesia can be reached 1.5 km after turning toward the Ortaklar direction at the Bodrum-Söke turning point.
We are in the opinion of that before getting to Magnesia through Selçuk, one should see “Anıt Ağaç” in Selâtin which lends its name to the Locomotive Museum in Çamlık and to the famous tunnel on Izmir-Aydin highway which is the longest tunnel of Turkey (3043 m). Anıt Ağaç, if reached through Ortaklar, is in the center of Selatin which is in 12 km distance. This is a 800 years old plane-tree (Platanus Orientalis) whose perimeter is 8,65 m, shadow radius is 35 m and 17,5 m in height. It was taken under protection by decision no. 10448 in 2002 of Izmir II No Committee of the Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage.
For those who prefer Aydın road, we suggest that they first drop by Mursalli from Germencik and see the church in the city center. It would be very easy to get Tekinköy, namely Magnesia, from there through the 3.5 km asphalt-paved road.
